Property Prep Checklist

Preparing Your Home for Photography - A Quick Checklist

To help us capture your property at its absolute best, here are some simple steps that make a huge difference:

Lighting & Atmosphere

  • Make sure all lightbulbs are functional!

  • Ensure that all the lightbulbs in a given set of lights matches—avoid having one bright white bulb in your kitchen’s 8 can lights for instance

  • Switch on all interior lights throughout the home

  • Turn off ceiling fans to avoid motion blur in photos

  • Open blinds and level them evenly for natural light

Cleanliness & Staging

  • Wipe down all countertops, tables, and visible surfaces

  • Vacuum or sweep all floors

  • Clean windows and mirrors for crystal-clear shots

  • Close toilet seats and tuck away personal bathroom items

Decluttering

  • Tuck electrical cords and cables out of sight where possible

  • Move trash bins to less visible locations

  • Clear away any clutter from counters and tables

  • Store any personal toiletry items in the bathrooms

Exterior Preparation

  • Move vehicles into the garage or park them down the street (this is especially important for drone shots!)

  • Keep the area of the street directly in front of your home clear

  • Ensure pets are secured away from the photography areas

  • A freshly cut lawn and debris-free walkways/driveways really make the exterior shine

Pro Tip: While not mandatory, shoots typically run more smoothly—and much faster!—when homeowners step out during the session. This allows me to work efficiently without needing to coordinate around foot traffic.
